Mitch King is a Singer-Songwriter, Recording Artist and Multi-Instrumentalist from Queensland, Australia. He spends much of his time travelling around Australia, performing music at shows and festivals across the country.
He is highly regarded for his evocative, raw and dynamic live performances…combining electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, kick and snare drums plus tambourine. His distinctive Southern blues and Australian roots and folk music is a sweet mixture of inventive, electrified and acoustic music.
From humble beginnings of busking in his home town of Mount Tamborine, Mitch has gone on to sell out headline shows, perform at many festivals such as St Kilda Music Festival, Blues on Broadbeach and Gympie Muster to name a few and organically building his fanbase to over 60 million worldwide streams. He’s also supported some fine musicians, including America the Band on their Australian National tour in 2019, Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson and Tones and I.
One of his honoured career moments was when US football team Green Bay Packers played his song “Coming Back” from debut album “A life under the sun” at their season opening match and shared it on all their socials…it’s since had over 30 million streams on US Pandora Radio.
His debut EP “Southerly Change” released in 2016, went straight to the top of the Blues Charts where it remained for 10 days straight. More recently Mitch independently released a handful of singles with ‘Burning’ having over 3 million streams on Spotify.
In January 2021 Mitch announced his signing to the late Michael Gudinski’s label, Reclusive Records. He released his sophomore EP “The Open Doors” in September 2021 under Reclusive with one of the singles “Oil & Water” (co-written with Mark Lizotte aka “Diesel”) receiving an Honorary Mention from the International Song Writing Competition in 2022.
Now roll forward to present time, Mitch is back in the recording studio working on new music and is excited to share that he will be independently releasing a new single mid-year.
“I have always been fascinated with the one-man band concept. After seeing Mitch perform live, I knew there was something unique and special about him. The fact that Mitch’s song ‘Coming Back’ was used and embraced by the NFL team The Green Bay Packers was a true testament to his song writing and I was surprised that he wasn’t already signed after that! The reaction we had after Mitch performed 5 Seconds Of Summer’s track ‘Youngblood’ on The State Of Music was incredible and it made it clear that we had to have him on Reclusive.”
– Michael Gudinski
“Supported by Mitch King, who is in his own right a very talented young folk/blues singer and multi-instrumentalist who was handpicked by Roger Hodgson (Supertramp) for his 2019 Australian tour. I suppose the word got out, as Mitch was quite an impressive opening act for America. Armed with guitar and a harmonica in a seated venue with all the house lights on – King was not intimidated to be pouring his heart out with the extra help of his howling vocals. His song ‘Burning’ was the one that struck me the most. It felt like Mitch came straight out of alligator filled Luisiana bayou region or from some country town of New Orleans. An Australian nod to southern blues and folk rock indeed. Check Mitch King out if you get the chance.”
